Panel Discussion

What Endures: From Local Knowledge to Global Futures

A conversation on historical preservation and the ongoing adaptation of techniques, materials and ideas.

As part of the London Festival of Architecture, and in partnership with the Oslo Architecture Triennale, join us for a conversation on historical preservation and the ongoing adaptation of techniques, materials and ideas.

Why is it easier to implement reuse in some countries than in others? Why do some individuals and communities succeed where others struggle? What conditions make reuse viable?

Practices rooted in place, shape identity and a sense of belonging, and can offer starting points for rethinking visions of the future.

The panel will look at what it takes to truly work with locally adapted materials - from traditional clay to emerging technologies such as 3D-printed concrete.

Panellists:

Line Ramstad - Director, Oslo Architecture Triennale

David Watson - Technical Director - AKT II

Melodie Leung - Director, ZHA
