Michael plays a crucial role in design exploration, particularly in the early conceptual stages of projects and competitions. With a strong technical and computational skillset, he experiments with building tools and simulations to rationalise and refine architectural elements, ensuring they achieve the intended quality and effect. His expertise spans modelling, coding, design, and construction detailing, allowing him to contribute across multiple specialised areas in a project. Working closely with engineers, contractors, and fabricators, he continues to push boundaries and invent new tools and methodologies to bring innovative architectural ideas to life.

Prior to joining ZHA, Michael worked at several architectural practices in the US.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Roger Williams University in the US and a Master of Architecture and Urbanism from the Design Research Laboratory (DRL) at the Architectural Association (AA) in London. He has taught as an Adjunct Professor at the University at Buffalo in the US.

Coming from a rural, agricultural background in the US, Michael is a hands-on problem-solver passionate about challenging disciplinary boundaries. Beyond work, he looks to nature for inspiration and enjoys scuba diving, hiking, and camping to explore the balance of simplicity and complexity in the natural world.
