About Maria Sol

Maria Sol Echeverri joined ZHA in 2016 and has contributed to a range of projects and competitions cross Australia, Japan, China, Norway, Malaysia, and Dubai while playing a pivotal role in the design and development of projects in Latin America.

Profile

Maria Sol’s expertise spans typologies such as residential towers, mixed-use high-rise developments, culture, leisure, landscape, infrastructure, and masterplanning. Integrating creative concepts with technical detailing, her experience spans project execution from concept to completion. 


Prior to joining ZHA, Maria Sol gained valuable experience in Colombia, working on smaller-scale projects such as schools and cultural centres. These projects allowed her to collaborate closely with local communities on-site, fostering a holistic understanding of architecture’s impact on social environments.

Education & Professional Philosophy

Maria Sol completed her Bachelor of Architecture from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia and her Master of Science in Architecture from Pratt Institute in New York. She has participated in juries at institutions in Chile and at the London South Bank University in the UK.

 

Coming from Colombia, Maria Sol values the responsibility and community impact of architecture as a profession. She is passionate about cycling and actively participates in a women’s cycling group that promotes empowerment and inclusivity.
