Maurizio has extensive experience working on location with teams in multiple cities, guiding projects from concept to completion. His portfolio spans multiple typologies, including residential, hospitality, mixed-use, cultural, and masterplanning developments. He first joined ZHA in 2002 as a 3D designer for international competitions. In 2003, he moved to Rome to collaborate with the structural engineering team on MAXXI: the National Museum of 21st Century Arts. In 2006, he relocated to Milan for the CityLife Residences project. Since returning to London in 2013, he has led large-scale international projects across Europe, Australia, Asia, and North America. In addition to his project work, he plays an active role in mentoring young architects, offering structured guidance and support.
Prior to joining ZHA, Maurizio worked at an architecture engineering firm while engaging in independent competitions and projects. He co-founded and served as partner at SPIN+, an open design collective dedicated to exploring innovative possibilities enabled by digital technologies in architectural design.

Offices
Our Central Building for BMW constituted a radical reinterpretation of the traditional office – transforming the building and the functions it contains into a more dynamic, engaging ‘nerve-centre’ or ‘communication knot’ – funneling all movement around the manufacturing complex through a space that transcends conventional white collar/blue collar spatial divisions.

Culture
MAXXI supercedes the notion of the museum as ‘object’ or – presenting a field of buildings accessible to all, with no firm boundary between what is ‘within’ and what is ‘without’. Central to this new reality are confluent lines – walls intersecting and separating to create interior and exterior spaces.
