Filippo has played a pivotal role in delivering key transportation and cultural projects, including the King Abdullah Financial District Metro Station in Riyadh, Napoli-Afragola High-Speed Train Station in Italy, and Terminal 3B at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport in China. He also co-directed the Navi Mumbai International Airport in India.
With a focus on innovation and new mobility, Filippo leads ZHA’s participation in the Hyperloop Italia research group and the NatPower H Hydrogen Refuelling Stations project. His approach to large-scale infrastructure projects is driven by a deep interest in enhancing the public realm and fostering vibrant communities. This perspective is rooted in his experience designing cultural projects such as the Guangzhou Opera House in China and the Regium Waterfront Museum in Italy.
Prior to joining ZHA, Filippo worked as part of the internal design team at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, contributing to the museum’s new Entrance Facilities and Services and overseeing the restoration of the Rembrandt and Caravaggio suites.

Filippo completed his degree with Honours in Architectural Design from the University of Florence in Italy and his Master of Architecture and Urbanism from the Design Research Laboratory (DRL) at the Architectural Association (AA) in London. He teaches Architectural Design at the University of Florence and Construction Technology at Milano Politecnico. He has served as a guest lecturer and design jury member for prestigious universities across Europe and the Middle East.
Prior to joining ZHA, Filippo was a pioneering researcher exploring the application of innovative organisational systems in engineering and architecture. He is a co-founder of the research group Spin+, and his work on sustainable cities and self-growing materials has been exhibited at influential events and institutions, such as the Venice Biennale, Orléans Archilab, and the AA in London.
Coming from Florence, Filippo’s early fascination with architecture was inspired by reimagining the possibilities of historic cathedrals, a passion that continues to shape his contemporary approaches to cultural heritage preservation. Beyond Architecture, he is a Hendrix-inspired crossover guitarist and he keeps weaving at the edge of disruption and fusion with his ZHA teammates, the Fistful of Funk.

Masterplans
The masterplan re-establishes and reinforces the links with the Port of Tallinn and the Old Town, as well as the links between the city and the sea; providing connectivity from the ferry and cruise terminals to the city centre, and at the same time creating an integrated new neighbourhood for the people of Tallinn.

Offices
Our Central Building for BMW constituted a radical reinterpretation of the traditional office – transforming the building and the functions it contains into a more dynamic, engaging ‘nerve-centre’ or ‘communication knot’ – funneling all movement around the manufacturing complex through a space that transcends conventional white collar/blue collar spatial divisions.
