About Maria

Joining ZHA in 2010, Maria Tsironi is an experienced computational designer specialising in advanced modelling methods and scripting techniques to develop innovative design concepts. She currently oversees the design on several ongoing projects across Asia and Europe.

Profile

Maria has worked across multiple scales internationally, from intricate product designs to skyscrapers and large-scale masterplans. She has played a key role in the concept design of major projects recently completed or under construction, such as The Henderson in Hong Kong, Unicorn Island Masterplan in Chengdu, CECEP Campus in Shanghai, and Navi Mumbai International Airport.

 

Maria has also contributed to recent furniture projects, designing the Ripple Sofa and Coffee Table for Serralunga, and the Alis Meeting Pod for Tecno, which featured in the ‘High-Performing Urban Ecologies’ installation by ZHA at the Italian Pavilion of the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2021.

Education & Professional Philosophy

Maria completed her Diploma in Architecture and Engineering with First Class Honours (summa cum laude) from Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AuTh) with 1st Honours (summa cum laude). She obtained her Master of Architecture and Urbanism with Distinction from the Design Research Laboratory (DRL) at the Architectural Association (AA) in London. 


Her work has been published and exhibited internationally, including at the Benaki Museum in Athens and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki.
