Convenience and flexibility

Located in the Linkong Economic Park within the Hongqiao Business Zone, and served by its transportation hub with subway, rail, and close to Shanghai city centre and the airport, Sky Soho connects multinational, national and local enterprises with local residents.

The concept for the new mixed-use building is the underlying simplicity four parallel slabs. This design provides the convenience and flexibility of a simple modular system based on a 8.4 meter grid and a building depth of approximately 18 meters. The envelope is defined by four main components: four elongated elements tied together by a sinuous retail podium and continuous metallic ribbon that connects them, and a green roof, like calligraphy.

These four primary elements are ‘squeezed’ together in their centre to configure intimate courtyards framed by connecting bridges that create a wholly integrated spatial experience with dynamic interior and exterior public spaces.
