Viviana’s work includes diverse typologies, from large-scale infrastructure and masterplans to high-rise residential, hospitality, cultural, furniture, and product design. Leading cross-disciplinary teams of international designers, she takes a hands-on approach, following projects from initial concept to completion with precision. Incorporating emerging ideas, societal shifts, and research into her design thinking, her work emphasises innovation in form, structure, and technology, blending the use of parametric and fabrication tools with on-site adaptability. Viviana has developed product design for renowned brands such as B&B Italia, David Gill Galleries and Magis. She is currently overseeing residential and commercial developments across the Middle East, Macau, and South Korea.
Prior to joining ZHA, she gained valuable experience at an architectural practice in Rotterdam and later with developer SOHO China in Beijing. These experiences equipped her with the leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills essential to delivering complex projects with commercial viability and design excellence.

Viviana holds a Diploma in Architecture, Urban Planning, and Landscape Design from the University of Naples, where she was awarded the school’s ‘Thesis of the Year’. She furthered her studies with a Master of Architecture and Urbanism from the Design Research Laboratory (DRL) at the Architectural Association (AA) in London. She is currently teaching Intermediate 18 as a Unit Master at the AA and is a regularly invited critic at institutions like the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Harvard University, Hong Kong University, and the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL).
Viviana is a UK Chapter Board Member of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), where she has played an active role in organising panel discussions and industry-wide events for over a decade. She also serves as a keynote speaker at international conferences and as a jury member for prestigious awards such as the World Architecture Festival (WAF).
Viviana’s passion for art and history was sparked by her mother, who was an archaeologist. Her childhood playgrounds were archaeological sites, where she observed excavations firsthand. Curiosity remains a driving force in her professional life, enriching the depth of her design work.

Education
Established in 1991, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST) has become a leading research institution consistently ranked amongst the best in Asia and around the globe. Over half of the university’s 16,000 students enrolled in the 2019-2020 academic year are from overseas, creating an urgent demand for new residential facilities within its Clear Water Bay campus.

The world’s first free-form high-rise exoskeleton optimises the interiors by creating spaces that are uninterrupted by supporting walls or columns. Three horizontal vortices generate the voids through the building and define the hotel’s dramatic internal public spaces.

The museum, a sectional extrusion open at both ends, its outline encapsulating a wave or pleat, flows from city to waterfront, symbolising dynamic relationship between Glasgow and the ship-building, seafaring and industrial legacy of the river Clyde. Establishing Eleftheria Square as the city’s primary gathering space, ZHA design creates new connections intended to unite a divided capital. Nicosia’s massive Venetian fortifications separate the old city from its modern districts, while the city’s ‘Green Line’ divides the capital into two disparate communities.
