Since 2015, Ulrich has been Co-Head of the ZHA Analytics + Insights (ZHA A+I) research group alongside Arjun Kaicker. The team operates at the intersection of design, workplace strategy, and emerging technologies, including big data, AI, and IoT sensors. They support project teams by delivering space analytics and user experience strategies that inform and enhance the design process. A core part of their work involves algorithmic tool development and integration of AI across all aspects of practice.
At ZHA, Ulrich has played a key role in driving IoT initiatives, enhancing user experience by integrating smart technologies and spatial sensing infrastructure.
Prior to joining ZHA, Ulrich lived and worked in Hong Kong for 11 years. He was involved in projects across Asia, working both on-site and within integrated, multidisciplinary design teams. He also spent five years at Gehry Technologies, gaining extensive experience in parametric design processes and digital project delivery.

Analytics & Insights
ZHA were early adopters of data analytics and artificial intelligence. We formed a dedicated research team, ZHA Analytics & Insight (ZHA A+I), to design office buildings that respond to the diverse needs of individuals.

Ulrich received his degree in architectural engineering from the Constance University of Applied Sciences in Germany and his Master of Architecture and Urbanism from the Design Research Laboratory (DRL) at the Architectural Association (AA) in London.
Since 2017, Ulrich has been teaching as a Full Professor for Digital Design and Construction at the Münster School of Architecture, part of the University of Applied Sciences in Münster. His teaching focuses on Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital fabrication, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality — preparing future architects to engage critically and creatively with emerging technologies in the built environment.

Tall Buildings
Offices
Developed on the world’s most valuable site purchased by Henderson Land, the 36-storey tower's design shelters new civic plazas enveloped by nature, creating an urban oasis in the centre of the city. Accommodating enhanced workplace flexibility, the building’s smart management system creates a contactless pathway for all occupants, eliminating all contact with communal surfaces.
