Carlos leads the Sustainability Team to achieve global carbon reduction standards and key sustainability certifications, such as LEED and BREEAM. He specialises in computational design and environmental analysis, integrating sustainability strategies to enhance energy performance while preserving design integrity. He collaborates with external consultants to maintain consistent sustainability standards across all projects.
Prior to joining ZHA, he worked as an Environmental Design Analyst in the Specialist Modelling Group at Foster + Partners for four years, where he was responsible for merging parametric design with environmental analysis studies.

Carlos received his Bachelor of Architecture with honours and his Master of Architecture from the University of Alicante in Spain. He earned his Master in Advanced Architecture at the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). Certified on sustainability in construction, his professional qualifications include LEED AP ® Building Design + Construction, Qualified UK Non-Domestic Energy Assessor, and Construction Life Cycle Specialist.
Carlos has taught at prestigious institutions, such as the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) in London, University of Monterrey in Mexico (UDEM), Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalunya (IAAC), and European Institute of Design (IED) in Barcelona. He has delivered workshops and lectures at the University of Westminster, University of Edinburgh, and University of Liverpool in the UK, as well as at the LCI School of Design and Visual Arts in Spain.

Jinghe New City is growing as a science and technology hub north of Xi’an in China’s Shaanxi province. Supported by new scientific research institutes and driven by environmental considerations, the city is becoming a centre for developing industries focusing on new energy and materials, artificial intelligence and aerospace.

Demarcating the centre of Xi’an’s business district, Daxia Tower’s gently curving silhouette is accentuated by layers of patterned glazing and dramatic atriums that bring natural light deep into its floorplates. Creating a cascade of planted interior terraces that echo mountainside waterfalls, each atrium gives panoramic views over the historic city and the growing high-tech zone.

Designed to host local and international productions of opera, dance and drama together with large-scale symphonies and musical theatre, the Art and Culture Centre includes a 1,400-seat Grand Theatre, 500-seat Black-Box Multifunctional Hall, 2,900 sq. m Arts and Education Centre, 3,000m² Conference Centre, 7,500m² Heritage Museum and a 10,000m² Digital Art Gallery.

Conceived as four interconnected towers reaching a height of 200m (42 floors), the 185,000 sq.m design incorporates two towers of flexible, open-plan spaces linked by a 20-storey vertical lobby, and two external service towers providing vertical circulation.

The new Nikola Tesla Museum renovates Belgrade’s historic Milan Vapa Paper Mill into a cultural destination celebrating Tesla’s legacy while preserving the city’s architectural heritage and creating a variety of new public spaces for local residents and visitors.
